Imagine feeling alone in a room full of people. Time and again, you’ve tried but your words have seemed to do more harm than good — or they are simply not heard at all. People you thought you were befriending misunderstand you, take a distance, or worse, they take offense and tell everyone about it. And because of this your have your guard up; you trust no one, and expect the worse from everyone.
I Was Keeping People At Arm’s Length
This is how I honestly felt about people. Even after spending countless hours in communication training, reading book after book about leadership, connection and influence. I felt awkward around people. And as the years passed this turned to distrust and a severely critical attitude about others. My business and relationships suffered so much.
My heart was suffering so much.
You see, I was aching to connect with people and have healthy stable lasting friendships. I just had no idea what that looked like anymore.
So, despite a deep desire to be for people, to help them and encourage them, I lived with my guard up constantly. Often not knowing what the right thing to say or do was and constantly feeling guilt, shame and regret.
How A Walk With God Changed It All
Then everything changed, because I changed. And that change came through a walk with God. Because of that change in me I have been able to walk away from all of that pain and;
- build trusting relationships with others
- help others in ways that really make them feel loved and cared for, even through social media
- have the confidence to start working on my dreams, and follow-through
- know in my heart people will want to listen
This increased confidence & trust in people, landed me my dream job, working on my dream project.
Leaving My Baggage Behind
Where before I was stuck in my work, resentful and fearful, God has molded a new person who is now finally growing every day, in every sense while working from home part-time — with the freedom to care for my four kids myself, oh yeah!!
I’m so happy to be set free from always having my guard up, waiting for the “other shoe to drop” right on my heart.
Finally I have the practical tools, and know what to say to help others. I no longer find myself rambling off into “bunny trails” trying to express empathy, but failing miserably. Bringing wounds to the foot of the cross has been the KEY, I now leave my baggage behind and truly, confidently and deeply can be there for people.
Just this last week alone I’ve had 7 people reach out to me after we met and tell me how blessed they felt by my support. I am blown away; in the 8 years I have been working online in a support function, people have rarely told me they felt personally cared for. My work was great, but I didn’t touch them personally.
Rekindle Your Love For People (This is YOUR Next Step!)
If you have been living a solitary “safe” life and avoiding the trouble that comes from dealing with people, and you are feeling it in every aspect of your work, life and spirituality. If ministry no longer feels joyful but is draining you, to the point you actively choose to do things that don’t involve a lot of in-person interactions you need to be part of this class, hands down.

What does a spiritual detox mean to you? Short for “detoxification,” detox means to rid something of toxic or unhealthy substances. Through my years as a wellness practitioner, I’ve seen how spiritual wellness encompasses our:
- Physical health
- Relational health
- Emotional health
- Financial health
Could your struggle be spiritual?
Whether you believe in God or not, you’re a spiritual being. So if someone is struggling in at least one of those four areas, we could assume there’s a spiritual connection, right?
For the past 10 years, I would have mostly agreed with this — but I couldn’t put my finger on why our spiritual wellness affects our relationships, attitudes, behaviors, patterns — even our physical health.
Then God led me to the SOLUTIONS for an Abundant Life study! And WOW: It’s the 12th week of our 13-week journey online. In such a short time, this amazing, brave group has experienced:
- Healed wounds,
- Broken addictions,
- Restored relationships,
- Spiritual detoxing of shame, guilt…
…and so much more.
Want less stress or more inner peace?
My own Solutions journey has been amazing, but you have to hear how some of my friends and colleagues are experiencing total wellness in new ways, by spiritually DETOXYING their lives:
Lisa’s Freedom from Shame
“Prior to Solutions for an Abundant Life, I always felt not good enough. Those feeling controlled me. I was always striving to be good enough and measure up. I received healing from shame and received the truth of who I am and who God created me to be. I have come into a deep understanding of His acceptance for me.” –Lisa C.
Melinda’s Restored Joy
“Prior to Solutions for an Abundant Life, I didn’t know where to start. I just knew a lot of things were wrong and I had no idea the root causes, how I got there, or how to fix it. For me, Solutions has been a toolbox that really works to restore order, peace, healing, joy, and so much more. Thank God!!” –Melinda B.
Kimberly’s Decoded Dating Dilemmas
“Before Solutions for an Abundant Life, I was stuck in a cycle. I am single and have been in one failed relationship after another wondering what the heck I am doing wrong…I was at the point where I knew it was me but I was stuck and didn’t know how to fix it. I have been to several counselors throughout my life and NOTHING has healed me like this course has! I finally have some tools that work and I am so grateful.” –Kimberly F.
How to Know if You Need a Spiritual Detox
Maybe you’re already feeling as free as you want to be from your past mistakes or heartbreaks. Maybe you already understand the real reasons you react the way you react to certain people or circumstances…
…but if not—if you want to feel:
- refreshed instead of stressed,
- powerful instead of powerless,
- confident instead of insecure…
…then your next step is to secure your spot in the next live Solutions class & community now, before space fills up or doors close:
I knew the moment I saw my new Personal Trainer’s Tattoo that said Faith over Fear that I was with the right coach. In fact I know God ordained my steps to start living that message for 5 months now. It all started in November at a conference when I heard God tell me to “BE BRAVE”.
How to BE BRAVE and Detox Your Fear
WOW WOW WOW that one defining message of “BE BRAVE” led me to Follow God’s directions and step up into things that were scary. Like to share my big failure moments with an audience of 51,000 people. Or spearhead a project that would get me so out of my comfort zone it has made me nauseous. Or even the simple task of picking up the phone and talking to people I don’t know hundreds of times. All these BE BRAVE actions have been hard but blessed me immensely. But it all started with DETOXing my FEAR.
The definition of DETOX means to abstain from or rid the body of toxic or unhealthy substances. FEAR is unhealthy….
Now I am not talking about the fear that keeps you from driving 100 mph I am talking about the FEAR that holds you back from being all you can be. You know the fear that keeps you from picking up the phone because you really are scared of rejection. It’s the kind of FEAR that is unhealthy, keeps you stuck in a rut, doesn’t let you overcome but likes to keep you in your comfort zone of life.
So stop reading if you are happy with the way things are in your life.

3 Tips To DETOX FEAR
#1 LISTEN AND Take ACTION
Listen to that inner voice, God’s voice on what and where you need to go, do, see. Action kills FEAR. I promise DOING even if you fall on your face will still serve you well.
#2 CONTROL YOUR ENVIRONMENT
Do you have “stinking thinking” people around you? Truly TOXIC friends and acquaintances need to be let go of in a loving way. But I know that sometimes our close family is part of our toxic environment. Limit your interactions, love them but don’t take their opinions and hurtful gestures to heart.
I got some good Personal Development and Personality training to help me understand my own husband better. It allowed me not to be offended or hurt once I understood that how he was made and operated was different than me. Tough Love: Remember you are in control of your hurt and what you allow.
#3 SPROUT JOURNAL
My personal development and business coach recommends that we write down 3 or more “Sprouts” in a journal everyday. A sprout is a positive growth, action, accomplishment from your day or life.
For example, today I followed up with 2 contacts, had special quality time with the kids, and de-cluttered 7 boxes for the mission.
A Sprout journal helps you see your growth over a period of time. Many times we can’t see all the foundation and roots being formed because we just see the small growth on top.
Detox To Invigorate Your Soul
Now you might be thinking, “All of that sounds okay, but you don’t know what I have been through Dr Mary… ”
A horrible divorce, a cheating spouse, an abusive childhood. I am sorry your soul is weighed down and broken from your past, but there is an answer;
His name is Jesus and he died so you and I could live and be free from our past. Now again you might be saying, “…but I already have Jesus in my heart and I still live with so much Fear, Anger, Hurt.”
In his Mission statement in Luke 4:18 NKJ Jesus says:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[a]
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
That’s right!! He came to heal YOUR Broken heart, to set you free from Captivity and bondage, to help you live a FREE and abundant life. Through Jesus we can activate the most powerful spiritual detox known to man, one that will benefit you for life!
Since my personal BE Brave moment I continued to “listen and obey” that small voice that says stop being afraid and have Faith over Fear. As a result I was able to start and complete a project that is very near & dear to my heart, a tool for you to use to reset your worn down spirit and refresh your soul, it’s called Ministering to the Wounded with Essential Oil and Prayer eBook & Video Class.
In Ministering to the Wounded with Essential Oils and Prayer you learn exactly how the Lord is using pure essential oils and prayer for His glory, in your healing for Total Wellness. This is just the thing to get you on the path to a spiritual detox to invigorate your soul.
I’m also giving all my readers a FREE copy of Healing The Wounded, a simple guide to help you know exactly what to do, say and pray to bring emotional healing to the broken. So that the next time you want to be there for a loved one, you can be brave and confidently support them.
That was me – and not all that long ago.
By spring 2017, I started struggling to get out of bed because of the stress from:
- Suffocating student-loan debt;
- Lackluster home-business growth;
- Frustrating family relationships;
- A new chronic illness diagnosis…
Outwardly, certain things seemed fine.
But inwardly, I felt lost.
And life as I knew it felt completely flipped on its head.
A Tipping Point
A tipping point was the day I went for another post-op check-up. Like check-ups before, I sat there on that crinkly-paper-covered exam table. But this time was different from the others.
My nurse practitioner Pam had examined me after each of my surgeries that year. But this time she used two words that scared me:
What followed were four weeks of a medically mandated reduction in hours at my job as a content writer for a bustling marketing firm.
A health issue was becoming a life crisis.
In those four weeks, I had time to think—a lot of time to think. By God’s grace, one revelation from that time of reflection was this:
Every upsetting crisis can be an uplifting catalyst.
IF you want it to be, God can transform the “worst” thing happening to you right now into one of the best things. There are some steps only you can take, though.
Maybe you’re bounding out of bed with all the energy, hope, confidence you could want? Then you’re seeing this for someone you love…
…someone who’s closer than you realize. Someone like I was—quietly struggling and secretly misusing my prescription pain meds to numb the emotional pain.
Pam’s words echoed often: “…deep depression….” I knew some things needed to change. I just didn’t know what. And I definitely didn’t know how.
But I did know the when: as soon as possible.
That’s how a tipping point became a turning point.
A Turning Point
Some amazing home-business teammates, namely Kayla Howard, kept mentioning this “First Steps to Success” thing, and that another was coming up!
With a full money-back guarantee and results-filled story after story over at DaniJohnson.com, I figured I had nothing to lose—except some discouragement.
Since taking my first chance on First Steps, every area of my life has been positively impacted.
I even have more hope for healing from that chronic illness. Even Pam noticed. At a more recent checkup, she couldn’t believe the difference:
“I don’t know what you’re doing, but keep doing it—because the woman who’s here now is not the same woman who was here last time.”
She’s right—since my first First Steps:
- There’s been healing in once-strained family relationships.
- I’ve paid off nearly $3,000 in debt (and counting).
- I’ve found a proven strategy for annihilating that student-loan debt faster.
- My once-floundering home business has increased by more than 7x.
- I even ended up in my best dating relationship ever (we met at a DaniJohnson.com event)!
It’s your turn(ing) point:
No excuse is worth sacrificing your freedom for.
If you don’t step out now, there’s no guarantee you’ll get this chance again. Only you can take this step. (There is, however, a guarantee at the event.)
So you’ve got nothing to lose except what you don’t even realize is holding you back from the quality of life and freedom that you secretly long for.
Do you really want things to get better?
If you’re serious about that:
Then your first steps start now.
Not after you’ve thought about it more.
Not after you’ve entertained the excuses.
Not after you’ve collected opinions from people who lack results…
…your First Steps start now:
