How was Easter? Do you celebrate Easter or rather Resurrection Day we like to call it in our house. Our daughter Sarah Grace’s birthday was this weekend so we had fun making the whole weekend special for her. She wanted a cake with pink flowers so against my better judgement I bought a Rainbow sprinkle cake and this chemical filled, artificially made pink cake writing stuff. Here is my results.


You can laugh at my art work if you want. The cake was over the top sweet and she couldn’t even finish one piece. My son on the other hand had too many pieces and the next morning woke up with an awful belly ache. He was really hurting so I rubbed some of my natural remedies on his belly which helped a little bit, then he was really hurting so I gave him a capsule full of my natural remedies and within 10 minutes he threw up once. Within 30 minutes no more stomach pain and 3 hours later he was out riding his bike and back to his old cheerful self. Puke gets a bad rap but I think it is the body’s way of getting rid of poisons. I believe my capsule of natural remedy helped the body wake up to what it had to do.

BOOTCAMP – Life, Business, Health, Homeschool

This week starts the beginning of my Homeschool Bootcamp. I am grateful for this inexpensive resource. I really struggle with consistency in many areas of my life. My business practices, my health habits, parenting, and now homeschool. I am a good starter, get a plan, even organize and then something happens to get me off track and boom I am behind, off course, or feeling too overwhelmed to do anything. Does that happen to you? Or do you get distracted by the next new shiny business program or trainer, new curriculum, new eating plan and never do anything enough to see if it will work. Here is my tip to you from this week’s Bootcamp Message:

“Until you have tried something consistently for a period of time in a consistent way you have no idea if it works….. “

Consistency and sticking to it will allow you to gather enough data not only to see if something works but to solve problems too.


Pick one thing from one area you struggle in and do it consistently all week. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Health:
    • Drink ________ oz of water every day.
    • Walk 15 minutes everyday.
    • Bring your lunch everyday this week.
    • Diffuse and breathe in your favorite Essential oils 15 minutes a day.
  • Work/Business:
    • Eat the Frog and do the one thing on your TO DO List that is the hardest.
    • Set your work hours this week and stick to them.
  • Finances:
    • Do a menu plan for the week and grocery shop those foods only.
    • Skip getting coffee, sodas, or drinks this week.
    • Have a budget meeting with your spouse or loved one this week.
  • Parenting or Homeschooling:
    • Smile at your kids a lot this week even when they frustrate you.
    • Encourage your kids 10 times more than you correct them.
    • Speak words of LIFE over them daily… (even if those things are not true yet) YOU ARE BRILLIANT READER, YOU ARE SO KIND, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD, GOD MADE YOU SPECIAL

If you follow me on Instagram drmarystarr you might be able to tell I like to cook. I do my best to cook healthier options and get my kids involved too. This week we had a epic Failure of gluten free Bananna Bread (which still got eaten) and an EPIC WIN.

Spiritual Life

Lastly let’s talk about your Spiritual Life. How is yours? Do you have one just on the weekends but the rest of the week forget about it?

This Easter Sunday we went to our new church we finally decided on here in Silicon Valley. We have been attending regularly for about a month and God has really spoke wisdom to us each week. This week we were shoved into the pews as our church was maxed out with people. About 30% of those attending were here on this special and important Holiday. But I also felt something else in my spirit. I also felt that many are searching for something greater than themselves. In an area of the world where some of the smartest, wealthiest, and most successful people live these individuals are recognizing that they will never be enough. They will never have enough, be successful enough, give enough to be fulfilled. Because true Joy, PEACE and FULFILLMENT don’t come from our WORKS but from our Father in Heaven.

Are you searching for that Peace, Joy and Fulfillment in your life? What if I told you that all those are possible to have in your life no matter what your life circumstances are. It’s true… You might enjoy this message from the New Year by Steven Furtick

Word of God Weekly Verses

I would like to start learning a Bible Verse weekly because I know the power of these words especially when spoken and prayed. They give us life, protection, healing and so much more. Even when we don’t believe in our conscious minds yet for something like healing, peace, restoration just praying/saying the Words can change and ReNEW your mind, heart, and life. So here is this weeks. Print it out, write it on sticky notes, write it with dry erase markers on your mirrors.

This verse is said a lot of different ways depending on what version of the bible you read. I am going to keep things simple for me and my kids to remember. You do what is best for you.

Help Regina Pruitt

Thanks for your concern this week. It was a little scary here in California. Starting with last weekend we got the worst storm of the decade they said. Because of flight cancellations I missed my Mommy weekend retreat to Young Living’s Beauty School. I was bumming but it all worked out. Then we had terrible flooding here in San Jose and 14,000 people were evacuated from their homes. Homelessness is already a huge thing around here. Because housing is so costly families and individuals can find themselves living in vehicles, in RV’s and campgrounds because they can’t afford to rent or own a home. It is sad. My husband and I realize how very blessed we are in more ways than financially.

Health is another way we realize how blessed we are. I haven’t had to take any drug or over the counter medicine in 17 years. My kids have never had an antibiotic or drug store medicine, and the only drug my husband has used in the past decade is aspirin. In contrast this woman Regina Pruitt has been on medications most of her life. She has Cystic Fibrosis a genetic disorder effecting the lungs. Most CF patients do not live past their late 20’s but Regina has beaten all the odds she is 43 years old. She has two precious boys her youngest about to graduate high school, she went to school to be a Physician’s assistant and has worked part time in the field, she has an awesome husband, and she is in amazing shape. But all of her life she has had to live on many many different drugs, she has been in an out of the hospital hundreds of times and because of some of the drugs she takes it makes her more susceptible to other side effects and diseases which sadly leads to more medicines. She has no choice about taking drugs they keep her alive…. But many of us do have a choice.

What do you mean Mary, you might be saying. I am saying that 80% of the prescription drugs that are taken legally are due to our lifestyle choices. Things that we choose to do or not to do are causing our illness. We have a choice to do things that will add to our health or subtract from it. I guess to a point Regina does too, but she chooses to exercise and stay strong and as healthy as she can…. But her reality still insists that she take drugs to live.

I am not writing this to make you feel bad about your weight, smoking, drinking etc. I am writing this to ask for your help. See we have a choice…. Regina doesn’t she needs 2 new lungs or she will die soon. Can you help me support Regina’s quest to get two new lungs. She is on the donor transplant list for new lungs. There out of pocket costs will run anywhere from 75,000 – 100,000 not including missed work and income. They have a You Caring Fund set up at to try to raise the funds. Homeschooling is Hard !


I made it through another week of Homeschooling. This was one of the highlights from the week.  It may seem like nothing to you but to me it’s everything. See homeschooling has to be one of the hardest jobs I have taken on. I know I am not that good at it yet. But I also know that I know that I know I need to do this. I need to be doing the HARD THINGS.  I know that I am the best teacher for my children at this moment in time.  And I know that I know that I know God wants me in this place not just for my kids but to refine me too.

I actually have been teaching for more than 20 years. Starting with my American Red Cross days teaching CPR and Babysitting classes, to Teaching Assistant and then into my Essential oils Class Teaching Days.  I estimate I have taught more than 5000 students and hundreds if not a thousand classes.   So it’s hard when I find myself in a place of teaching and not being so good at it.  

I think I may have thought way way early on that this would be a breeze, but it’s not. In fact most days I need my NingXia Nitro and Stress Away to get through the day.  And I am only officially schooling less than 3 hours a day LOL it can’t even be considered a full time job. But everyday that I do it and every week it gets better with little glimmer’s of hope like the video above.  (He’s Reading He’s really reading… kind of)

See my oldest son is well ACTIVE.  He is brilliant and caring and sensitive like his dad but he can not sit still for more than 15 minutes or so and that’s a stretch. So traditional schooling was pretty much out. In fact he got kicked out of nursery school when he was 3. They couldn’t deal with a kid who couldn’t sit for 10 minutes to do a craft and didn’t know how to use scissors.  But my dad who was a middle and high school teacher for 35 plus years always said he felt boys matured later than girls and thought boys would benefit to start school a year later.  So I listened to him and let my son start schooling a little later and grow and develop at his own pace.  

I have also learned that our child’s development is much more than what we teach them but also what we feed them.  Sugar, Processed foods, gluten, and milk products all make Joshua’s attention span and learning more challenging.  I notice he is more emotional, has more difficulty in calming down for sleep, and his communication struggles too.  

Recently I was introduced to this book :  


If you know anyone who has children with Asthma, Allergies, is labeled on the Autism spectrum or Asperger’s they have to read this book.  It is full of helpful and effective information. And real life stories that will make you rejoice in hope and cry from the tragedies.  

I pretty much know that if I hadn’t been a Chiropractor and then a Wellness Consultant that my life and son’s life would look a lot different now. My son would have most likely gone to school and have had a label by 5 or 6 years old. Don’t get me wrong I am not against getting help or testing but I am against putting a label on a kid or adult so that they grow up thinking that they can not change and this is how and who they are.

In years of practice I have seen some amazing things done with just diet changes, nutritional supplements, essential oils and Chiropractic !   I have seen a 3 year old non-verbal not crawling begin to walk and talk within 6 weeks of nutritional changes made.  I have seen autistic become more social and communicative, I have seen asthma healed, I have seen allergies eliminated.   I had also seen God’s miraculous healing without any intervention. (Well I guess it’s all God’s healing).  So I never doubt that change can happen and healing can occur. And when I find more resources and tools to help make these changes I want to share them with you.   

Here is something else you may want to look into if you have an easily distractible child, Brain Training!  Here is the Podcast of    Do you Need to Train your Brain ?   I started using some of these ideas this week and I am already starting to see improvement.  

I will continue to learn and grow as a homeschooler and mother who is grooming, feeding, growing kids.  I will continue to help educate parents about the dangers of labeling and drugging.

Here is Larry’s story from Dr Bock’s book. Larry and his wife were bullied into drugging their son when he was 7 years old.  Their son was a good kid at home but struggled in school and was labeled with ADHD.  The teachers threatened if they didn’t get their son on medication for ADHD than they were be in Neglect, Child Services would be called and they could lose both of their children.  Over the years their son’s low dosage of Ritalin increased to the highest dosage 4 times a day.  At 14 their son was a star baseball player and good kid. One day while he was playing on his skateboard he had a heart attack and died.  The autopsy showed direct damage to his heart from the Ritalin and the cause of his death.   WHAT!!!!!

I read that story and thought of the thousands of kids on this drug or other stimulants.  It’s my opinion that we set these kids up for becoming addicted to other stimulants in their teens and early adulthood. Things like  Energy drinks or worse which all of this is setting them up for early health problems or worse.

You can agree or disagree with me in the comments.  And I get that sometimes families wouldn’t survive unless they “calmed down” their kids with these drugs.  I am just saying maybe we can do other things too or instead.  Here is the information again to get the book I talked about and see for yourself.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Yes I admit. I am in love with my Instant Pot. I believe time is our most valuable resource and using the IP is saving time and literally “making money for my family”. Seriously if you give a value to your time say $20 an hour no matter if you work out of the home, from home or are a stay at home mom your time is valuable. Saving 30 minutes 3 times a week is like making $30 for your family. That time can now be spent doing more valuable things spending QT with the kids or your spouse, working out, learning or working in your Home business and turning that time into CASH.

So here is a recipe I found that was a winner !  Here is her beautiful picture of Jennifer Robins Creation.

Don’t let the looks fool you.  IT WAS DELICIOUS! I modified and doubled the paleo recipe because of the ingredients I had on hand and because I like leftovers for future time savings. I used ¾ of a big onion diced. We used 2.5 lbs of chicken strips not frozen and 2 big sweet potatoes. (I wished I used another ½ of Sweet Potato. The flavors are awesome. We also used Frank’s Red Hot Wing Sauce because that is what we had in the fridge. We used Coconut oil and Ghee and again if you don’t have Ghee use your Coconut oil or I guess you could use Butter. We ate it with Challah bread on Friday night but I would suggest making a big pot of rice or quinoa in the instant pot for the week and use some of that to make the meal go farther and help cool the spiciness. We cooked it for 18 minutes and it was perfect but I think I could have done 17 minutes and kept the sweet potatoes a little more firm. Looks like Jennifer added  some scallions and goat cheese to the top again that might be great if you have them on hand. I don’t suggest adding extra cost if you don’t need to.

Total time < 30 minutes –  Total Cost  < $15    but includes 2 meals  Dinner and Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids = < $ 2 per serving


2.5 lb chicken breast cut into filet size

¾ of an entire big onion

1 tbsp Coconut to saute onion

2 tbsp Coconut oil

4 tbsp Ghee

6 TBSP Frank’s Red Hot Wing Sauce

2 ½ big Sweet Potatoes or Yams

1 tsp Garlic Salt

¼ tsp Pepper

Go to to find the directions specifically. Again I think with the filets you can use the Poultry setting at 17 minutes. I did add 2 tbsp of water too.

The next day we used the leftovers to make Patias…  That is a made up word my daughter calls anything in a wrap.  Simply heat your tortillas on one side, flip sprinkle some favorite cheese (ours is raw cheddar or Tillamook cheese which I think you can only get here on the West Coast)  and add some of the chicken sweet potato and juice.  Be sure to eat over your plate because the juice can squirt out.

How to Find the Money for your Next Orlando/Disney Vacation?


I have been blessed to vacation in Orlando and go to Disney more than a dozen times in my adult life.

Most all of these vacations have been coupled with another pre-planned work event that allowed us to write it off on our taxes most all of the hotels fees, travel and even some of the entertainment. I have gone to the parks enough to recognize many ways to save a boat load of money but still have an awesome time. So here are some of my tips that will help you and your family

#1 Get to Go on Vacation              #2 have a blast             #3 save money too!

Most families believe that their dream vacation to Disney World is unattainable because they are living paycheck to paycheck, have a mountain of debt, and or maybe have a larger family and don’t see how they could ever afford that kind of fun for the whole family. If you have this dream don’t give up on it. A dream will stay a dream unless you change some habits, develop some new skills, and work consistently towards it.

My first ever Adult on my own vacation was with my college girlfriends to Niagara Falls. We literally would wake up at 4am on the weekends and go collect cans from all the parties in the dorms and cash them in for 5 cents a can. It was dirty and hard work but we averaged about $10 -$15 a weekend and saved for months until we had over $300 dollars. This bought us 2 nights stay in a hotel, some Niagara Falls Excursions, and a nice dinner.

The next vacation with my same girlfriends was a cruise. We all were going to separate schools at this time and although I was working and going to school I decided to use my first “CREDIT CARD” to pay for the trip. I thought I would pay it back quick …. but that credit card balance and continuous usage would never see a ZERO BALANCE for more then 10 years…. I started a bad habit in my early twenties that I wouldn’t break until my late thirties. So my first advise to you would be DON’T USE CREDIT CARDS TO GO ON VACATION. But now you are asking how do you FIND THE MONEY? It doesn’t grow on trees you know.

We are moving to California


So you may have heard a rumor or seen a vague post on Facebook that my family is moving to California.  It is true we are.  Mid November we will be California Residents.   Why such a radical change and why California?

In late July my husband got a phone call from a personal friend telling him about this position coming available at his company.  He talked quite a bit about the awesomeness of the company, culture, and opportunities.  Although my husband wasn’t looking for a job he was intrigued and kept an open mind and started doing his own investigation.


Have you heard of the company Roku?  Maybe you have one of these devices in your home. A Roku device or Roku TV let’s you watch TV your way.  No more multiple remotes and 10 minutes to figure out how to get what you want.   We have been users of this device for several years now.  This simple inexpensive device makes exercise, cooking, cleaning, homeschooling and date nights SO MUCH BETTER.  

pbskidsrokuFirst thing in the morning the kids watch a PBS learning show while we make breakfast and organize the day. No matter what time it is or what learning show the kids want to watch (Sesame Street, Word World, Nature Cat) the Roku device let’s us watch them on our schedule.  You can get a variety of free channels. For days when we can’t get outside our Homeschool Gym Class includes a Youtube Fitness Blender “Kids Move”.  I love my K-LOVE and Elevation Channels and listen to worship music and a Stephen Furtick sermon throughout the week.

Some channels you may want have a minimal monthly charge. We have Netflix and PureFlix.   Netflix Leap Frog Learning shows have helped my kids learn their alphabet, phonics, shapes, numbers, and now words and math so that time gets counted as part of HomeSchooling a couple times a week. Do you want a cheap but inspiring Date night?  Try a Pure Flix movie with your honey?  We love watching these uplifting movies.

Preparing dinner wouldn’t be the same if it weren’t for the Roku device.  My 6 year old and 3 year old can easily turn on their favorite learning show while my hands are messy making dinner. My Roku device also gets my house cleaned easier.  How?  I use their favorite Netflix show or movie as a reward for “getting our work done” on cleaning days.


It may sound like we watch a lot of TV, but in fact the kids watch less then 2 hrs a day and most of it is focused learning.  Before when we just had TV or Cable they ended up watching more and less quality TV.  The Roku gives us more control and specifics with the programming that goes into their little heads.  We estimate the device and channels we pay for saves us at least $300 a year compared to basic Cable TV and the Red Box Movies we used to get.   Plus the sanity and time savings is priceless.   


Roku was founded by CEO Anthony Woods the INVENTOR of the DVR. His company Roku which means 6 in Japanese is the 6th company Mr Woods has founded. Mr Woods has been instrumental in many of the amazing things we all enjoy including streaming movies.  As my husband investigated Roku and found it to be an amazing company filled with talented people.  He was excited for the chance to work there so he started the application and interview process.

It was a hard process. He went through some tough interviews and at several points we thought he was rejected.  But thanks to God, personal referrals, JOB DOMINATION, and lots of prayer he received his acceptance and approval letter October 11th, 2016.  

We all are extremely excited and of course nervous about this new adventure.  We are moving from the Privacy of the woods in a small town of 7000 people spread out over almost 600 square miles…. To  30,000 people packed into 11 square miles…..   WOW.  It is definitely going to be different.    The freedoms and lifestyle we enjoyed in Florida are going to be missed.  But it’s time to do hard things expanding our territory, learning, developing, and growing .  

When we stay in a comfort zone of convenience, routines, and sameness we don’t grow.  When we stretch ourselves to do something different, to use our talents and skills we grow and make the world a better place.

I am super proud of my husband.  He is a talented incredible genius of a man but he doesn’t like change.  He is stretching himself to take this leap of faith. He is applying his talents and growing his skills so he can make a difference for the company but more importantly for his family. His stepping out in faith will not only contribute to the success of Roku but ultimately change our family for generations.  His example to our children and wise stewardship of the financial blessings will change the trajectory of our future.  


Jay and I are looking forward to this new adventure with Roku.  We understand that what we are saying YES to is much more than a job.

Fasting for Health


Have you heard of fasting? I am not talking about what Catholics do for 40 days of Lent but rather Fasting for Health. I first learned a great deal about fasting from leading experts in the Health and Nutrition world.  I would sit in those seminars and absorb as much as I could.  Initially the concepts of fasting were foreign to me but then I would experience it and see it’s benefits played out in my life and the lives of my friends, patients and clients.

I have written about my experiences with Juice Fasting Here and the Daniel Fast Here . I have done many Master Cleanse Fasts  prior to having children and intend to do and write about them in the next year. Some of you who follow me on Facebook saw my FaceBook Live about the Liver Cleanse I have done 6 times you can check it out under my videos here called Do you need to Cleanse ? 

Will Fasting make you Live Longer? 

But the Fasting I want to highlight today could be labeled more intermittent fasting or water fasting.  D Gary Young researched some of the longest living cultures in the world where he found a higher then average percentage of centenarians lived (people 100 years or older).  In these populations diets were deficient of processed foods and sugars. But uniquely many of these longest living cultures had a period of fasting throughout the year. This may have varied based on limited calorie intake to no food for days or weeks for religious reasons or simply limited food supplies due to long winters.

What the Research says about Fasting? 

There are many studies showing the benefits of fasting.  June 2014 Medical News Today article showed fasting 1 day of water only a week long term may reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease among people at high disease risk. Interestingly I saw this benefit in an older Chiropractic Classmate who practiced this. He was stronger healthier and had more endurance then many of his decade younger classmates.

The University of Southern California in Los Angeles published in the journal of Cell Stem Cell, found longer periods of fasting 2-4 days may help to reboot the immune system, clearing out old immune cells and regenerating new ones. This study on mice was the first to show fasting could trigger regeneration of an organ or system through stem cell regeneration. These researchers also believe that fasting could protect against the damage caused by chemotherapy.

Now that study was on mice…… but my friend Mike the Miracle Welch took this concept and used it in his own protocols. During his days where he received Chemotherapy he would only have a liquid low calorie diet the Master Cleanse Drink and NingXia Red Juice. He received his Chemo on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6am. He would sustain himself on this liquid only diet until he got his appetite back around 9 or 10 pm at night where he would have a vegetarian salad of snow peas, avocados, romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes and alfalfa sprouts. The results were that he didn’t miss a day of work and had minimal side effects from his chemo treatments. It is possible that Michael’s fasting protocol helped him but we must also tell you that Michael was also very anal with his clean eating, supplements and many other things he researched throughout his cancer treatments. But he wasn’t the only person I would meet that utilized some sort of Fasting throughout their Cancer recovery.

A Cancer Ministry 

Several years ago I met David and Megan Trombly. They have had a Cancer Ministry for more than 15 years. God put a call on their lives when David was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. Much like Mike the Miracle Welch they did extensive research when they were diagnosed. They invested hundreds of thousands into traveling the world and receiving cancer therapies. 9.11 Tribute to Fallen Fighters CNY Memorial Climb


On September 11th, 2001 almost 3000 people were killed and 6000 injured in the four plane attacks. Most of us remember the footage of the World Trade Center as it played again and again. Hundreds of first responders came to rescue lives after the initial attacks. When the towers collapsed mostly civilians deceased working in WTC buildings but 411 emergency workers lost their lives in the tragedy of 9/11 too.

The days after 9/11 we hugged our loved ones tighter and cherished our own lives a bit more. But something else was born out of that day that has evolved into truly honoring 9/11 First Responders and a recognition of what all Emergency Workers provide for us daily. These events includes a climbing 110 flights of stairs in honor of the fallen rescuers around the annual anniversary of September 11, 2001.


The first known Memorial Stair Climb (climbing of one hundred and ten flights of stairs in full rescuer gear) was done by Firefighter Lieutenant Charles Cogburn who scaled a two story building 55 times wearing body armor, a helmet and an M-4 in Afghanistan. The following year he brought this climb back to the United States. Today more than 30 climbs happening across the United States and other countries on 9/11 anniversary.

A “Climb to Remember” the Central NY Memorial Stair Climb was held Friday September 9th at the Utica State Office Building, Utica NY. This event Commemorates those who lost their lives.


Firefighters and First Responders across Central NY can participate. Each participant is given a Fallen hero to climb for. They wear their pictures as badges around their necks and some display their hero on their back.










The Oswego Volunteer FireFighters recruited my husband to be a part of this event with them. They were suited with 26lbs of firefighter gear plus an additional 20 plus lb Scott pack was harnessed to their backs.oswegofiremen





Prior to the climb the men and women were inspired by speeches from two surviving 9/11 Firefighters. These survivors shook each participants hand as bagpipes played and the rescuers began their 110 floor challenge. It was physically demanding and exhausting but the rescuers didn’t give up. After they completed their 110 flights each rescuer rang a bell and put the picture of their fallen hero on the hero wall.rangbell

Jay Carter shares “Being a part of this event made 9/11 very real for me. The sacrifices these rescuers make. My fallen hero Joseph Maffeo had a 1 year old baby and wife he left behind. Every day first responders selflessly go to work for us. To save our children, our homes, our lives. I don’t think I was grateful enough for their work. The physical demands on their bodies, the toxins they expose themselves to, and the dangers are incredible. All firefighter and rescue personal selflessly do the hard things to save lives. For that I am very grateful.”

Healing for Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue, Rheumatoid Arthritis and more with the Wahl’s Protocol



This week in my son’s home school curriculum we learned about  Herbivores Carnivores and Omnivores. Basically Plant eaters, Meat Eaters, and animals that eat both Plant and Meat. At the same time I have been reading (or really listening to on Audible) The Wahl’s Protocol by Terry Wahls MD. It is a very interesting and intriguing way to heal the body to better health. Although I have learned many of these principals before and even written about them. I am convicted about healing myself and encouraging others at a much deeper level then I currently live and promote.

The book itself is written for those struggling with serious immune system diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, and generally any serious illness or disease where the body attacks itself. There are even some examples of cancer patients having improved results on this protocol. Wahl’s Warriors (clients and patients who have changed their eating patterns to the Wahl’s protocol) state they have radically reduced or eliminated problems like fatigue, brain fog, pain and symptoms of their disease. Many Wahl’s Warriors have CURED themselves from their Dis-EASE altogether.

So back to Herbivores, Carnivores, and Omnivores. Dr Wahls and I both agree that humans were made to be Omnivores eating a balance of diverse plant life and free range, organic grass fed meat. She shares that she believes her years of being a vegetarian was a factor in her state of DIS-EASE. And I whole-heartedly agree with her opinions. For years I have had client after client, whose bad eating with low protein & fat diet or vegetarianism led to to symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, Psychosis, Suicide, Fatigue, Insomnia, Mental Fogginess, Rapid Aging, Diabetes, Infertility, and the list goes on.

Take Responsibility

If we don’t correct our poor eating we end up with a Diagnosis and Disease that we can now label and blame our symptoms, discomfort and poor quality of life on. Not understanding or taking responsibility for our part in the Dis-EASE.

Years of DEPLETION with poor eating is horrific on our bodies. Supplementing with good whole food nutritional supplements is helpful. In fact many depleted bodies will feel good or REALLY GOOD when they initially start taking supplements. Some persons need $300 plus dollars a month in good quality supplements to help improve the nutrition of a depleted system. Now I am talking to myself here too. I am one of those $300 a month Supplement takers, but I have found that when I eat clean (no sugar or junk food, balanced carbs, proteins, and fats with lots of veggies, and some fruit) I FEEL GREAT.  Add some exercise  in and I FEEL AWESOME. Limit my stress, use my essential oils, and get good quality sleep and I FEEL FABULOUS!

So here is my point. The Wahl’s Protocol  can change your life and heal your body. Most people though that change their eating feel better almost instantly and by that I mean a week or so.  But it will not be easy and it will take lots of time if not years if you are healing a chronic condition. This isn’t take a pill or eat these things and boom your body is changed.  It is whole life changes, healing an a deep level, and changing your future forever.

So I have asked myself this question and I am going to ask you too.  If I don’t make some serious changes in my health and wellness specifically with what I am eating how will the next 5, 10, or 25 years look like.  Will my fatigue  headaches, stiffness, joint pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, irritability, weight problems (Fill IN THE BLANK)  get worse?  What about the quality of my life?  Will it affect my ability to play with the kids or grandkids ?  Will it affect my relationship with my spouse and loved ones?  Will I be able to have less and less fun because I just don’t feel good?   Will I be diagnosed with a DISEASE….  Will I cut my life short?

Are you hurting?

Like many of you I couldn’t sleep last night worrying about this storm and friends and family in it’s path.  Every time my head hit the pillow I would dream about being near the Jersey shore (one of my favorite places) and trying to escape this storm.   You can tell I watched a little bit too much news these past few days.  

This horrible natural disaster reminds us that the storms of life will hit us all.  Everyone will experience pain, loss, or disaster sometime in their life.  It’s what we do with that loss that makes us or breaks us. 

You may be someone that just lost their home, lost a child, lost a job, or has had a marriage end.  Your heart may be full of pain, anger, hurt, resentment, frustration, and sadness.   It may feel unbearable and like a deep abyss.  But I am here to tell you, encourage you, and remind you that there is a Redeemer that will bring all that you lost back to you 100 fold.  There is a Healer that can heal your broken heart, broken body and broken spirit.  There is a Savior who will make all things new again, and bring peace where hate once lived. 

I have seen hundreds of people RENEWED in the grace of Jesus Christ.  I have witnessed bodies healed, hearts mended, relationships restored, $10,000 of thousands of dollars come out of nowhere to families.  I have seen miracles.

Today I want to encourage you  to give up your hurt to Him. To let go and God take care of the pain.  Ask Him to come into your heart and give you the peace that passes all understanding.  Because if you do….. YOU WILL BE SHOCKED at what lies ahead of you. 

Last year my husband and I lost 2 babies. On Christmas day 2011 I lay in a hospital bed waiting for the surgeons to remove Baby Jesse from me.   I asked God to take this pain, hurt, and heartache from me and what happened next was like nothing you could imagine.  I immediately felt the heaviness leave my body and this incredible peace fall upon me.   The nervousness and anxiety of surgery and being exposed to powerful drugs was gone.  Honestly even before they gave me any medications it felt like I was on a sedative.  After surgery the pain they said I would experience simply wasn’t there.  That peace is still in my heart and although I still mourn for the children I lost I am renewed. 

Tomorrow I will be 19 weeks pregnant.  God has renewed me, restored what I have lost, and healed me and He can do the same for you.  So pray for Jesus Christ to come into your heart. Pray for your miracle.  Pray for the Peace that passes all understanding.

Gluten Intolerance & Pain : Could there be a connection?

July 10th, 2002. That's the date I received my diagnosis:  "Severe gluten sensitivity, leaky-gut syndrome & candida overgrowth". 


How could this be? In my quest to feel better, I'd even become a vegan. I was eating lots of fresh fruits, veggies and healthy, whole grains. I had become regular health-food nut!


Becoming a vegan, I'd lost a ton of weight. But also, I was losing bone mass. And the pain was getting worse.


"OK. Where's the truck?" 


That's the question I'd wake up asking every morning. 


Surely that's what happened. If I hadn't been hit by a truck, why did I hurt so badly?


Groggy Head. 


Draw a very hot bath, and soak at least 30 minutes so I could face the world. 


And, the crazy body aches was just one part of it. 


I had excruciating bouts with cramping. And constipation.  It had even gotten to the point where I was regularly performing soap-suds enemas just to get rid of the bloating. 


So, here I was again. Back in another doctor's office on my never ending quest to try to find out why I felt so miserable. 


And she tells me I need to get off wheat? AND all those other "healthy" whole grains I'd been filling my body with?


How could it be so simple? I'd spent the last 20 years going to doctors in attempts to find out why I hurt. Gastroenterologists. Neurologists. Orthopedics. Gynecologists. Allergists. Pain management clinics. 


How could they have missed something so basic? So simple. 


But I was desperate, so I decided to listen to this new doctor's recommendations and eliminate all grains from my diet. Not just wheat, but all grains (including corn).


And, within 3 weeks, I felt as though I'd been given my life back. 


I've spent the last 10 years learning about gluten and it's devastating effects on the body.


For one thing, you do not have to have "celiac disease" to experience problems with gluten. I didn't, and that is why the gastroenterologists missed it. They were looking for signs of celiac.


Gluten sensitivity causes inflammation in your body. And, the inflammation does not just manifest in your gut. It can manifest in pain all over your body. In my case, it caused excruciating leg pain, swelling, bloating and carpal tunnel syndrome. 


Gluten is also linked to neurological disorders. This is one reason why "brain fog" goes away when you eliminate gluten from your diet.


Now, "gluten free" has become the new buzz-word. In a way this is good because people are becoming aware of problems with gluten.


However, many of the so-called "gluten free" products you see everywhere now, are not really gluten free!  They are only "wheat-gluten" free.  


And, that is why many people go on a "gluten-free" diet, but don't see all their symptoms go away. 


You see, every grain (including rice) contains it's own form of gluten. Even corn. ESPECIALLY corn! 


In fact, corn gluten is often one of the biggest offenders, and it is added to many products in the form of "malto-dextrin". 


So, even if you're reading labels, you may miss some of the hidden forms of gluten lurking in your foods. You have to learn all the hidden things to look for.


Why is this? Why are people suddenly becoming gluten sensitive when grains have been consumed for thousands of years? 


It's quite possibly because of the hybridization of grains. Genetic selection and sometimes actual genetic modification produces grains that are vastly different than they were 200 years ago. Genetic modification of corn has become so prominent that unless the corn you buy specifically says "USDA Certified Organic", you can safely assume that it is GMO corn!


If you experience Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Crones, IBS, Carpal Tunnel, or neurological problems, let me encourage you to try going gluten free for at least 3 weeks. 


– No grains (not even rice). This means no flour, or products made from flour, too. Eliminate breads, pastas, rice, corn, corn chips, tortillas, etc. You really can get by with out this things for 3 weeks!  


– Read labels. If the product contains malto-dextrin, MSG, monosodium glutamate, "natural flavors", or any obvious form of grain…put it back!


– At the end of 3 weeks, begin adding back 1 grain at a time. 


Begin with quinoa since this is usually the least offensive grain. Then, try brown rice, corn, oats…waiting at least 4 days between the time you add a new grain. If you notice any of your old symptoms returning, eliminate that grain. 


Being gluten free does not necessarily mean remaining bread free. Many people who are gluten sensitive can tolerate sprouted grains. The most commonly known sprouted grain products are by "Food for Life", the makers of Ezekiel Bread. However, there are many others. Just look for the words "made with sprouted grains".


There are also many truly gluten free recipes for products made with almond meal and or coconut flour. With many of these, you'd never guess that the muffin you're eating doesn't contain even an ounce of grain! 


For overall good health, you should continue to be fanatical about reading labels. 


This new way of eating may take a little getting used to, but feeling good again is worth the effort.  You can do it!

Understanding Fibromyalgia

I remember when I saw Fibromyalgia for the first time. I mean really saw it. It was 1999  I was still in Chiropractic school and a class mates wife had been diagnosed. I remember how exhausted he looked everyday. He would share, “my wife had a good night last night” or “my wife had a bad night last night.” I remember that they had to move where they lived because she was losing the ability to do stairs, and was extremely sensitive to mold and mildew. He ended up failing several classes and I am not sure he even got his degree. This was the first time I realized the impact Fibromyalgia had on the entire family.

About a year later I met Mary Moeller the author of Fibromyalgia Cookbook; A Daily Guide to Becoming Healthy Again and other articles and books of overcoming Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue.   This two hour lecture would change my life.  

For weeks I talked to anyone who would listen about what I had learned. Through her training I learned about  yeast and Candida and the effects on our health. I reported some of this information in an essay I wrote for one of our nutrition classes but sadly it would be about another 5 years before the professor would come into agreement with this information. This was the first lesson that even in Alternative, Nutritional and Holistic Health Care practitioners can be years behind scientific and clinical research.

In 2001 I began training with a pioneer in natural health and the nutrition field and would soon find that most of what I would learn would take even the Holistic Practitioners about 2-4 years to begin using these things. It was at these cutting edge trainings where I would begin to meet more and more individuals healed from Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia.  

From 2003- 2006 I began to see a large number of cases of Fibromyalgia at our Wellness Center.  We utilized some of the cutting edge therapies and treatments I had learned about.  The results were promising but disappointing. Clients would get 30-60% improvement in their symptoms, but if they stopped coming many times we would have to start all over. I didn't know then that I was missing a piece of the puzzle.

I worked harder and harder giving my patients everything I had until my health started to be affected  Not unlike many practitioners I was not caring for my body as I needed to. But this lessons would  give me an understanding how ones health could deteriorate without you really noticing.  

In 2007 my eyes became open to a missing piece of the puzzle.  It was a HUGE piece that I thought I had before but didn't. I began to incorporate this missing piece of the puzzle in 2008 and WOW did I start seeing healing after healing after healing. My practice soon evolved and I started working with clients from all over the world through phone consultation. Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue syndrome clients have been the majority of my clients for the past 5 years.     

In 2010 I had a God appointed health challenge that would again give me great compassion for my clients and lead me to find another missing piece of the puzzle for them and me.  

I know that I know that I know there are answers for those suffering.
